Getting specialty care
Lynn residents are fortunate that specialty care is available here for those without insurance. In most communities, the free care system that provides care for those without insurance usually covers only hospital and health centers and their own doctors, and most of these outside of big cities are primary care doctors. This often means that when uninsured people need special kinds of care from specialist doctors, they receive huge bills.
Through the Lynn Health Task Force's negotiations with North Shore Medical Center at the time of the purchase of Lynn's hospital, the Hospital and its physicians have created a system in Lynn that makes specialty care available to the uninsured for free. Low income uninsured families and individuals in Lynn can get access to the services or Orthopedists, Neurologists, Podiatrists, Opthamologists, Cardiologists, Endocrinology, and Surgery with arrangements for new specialties being developed all the time.
If you need specialty care and have no insurance, you should contact the Lynn Community Health Center which coordinates this program. You do not need to be a patient of the Health Center to get access to these specialists. Check to the right for a link to the Health Center and its contact information.
