Emergency Care
You have a couple of choices. Click on the Directory of Lynn Providers link to the right to get contact information for all of these facilities
The Lynn Community Health Center operates a walk-in treatment center at its Center on Union Street in Lynn. No appointment is necessary. It doesn't matter whether you have insurance or any ability to pay. If you don't have insurance or MassHealth, they will still help you. If your income is low, the care will be free.
You can go to the Emergency Room at either Union Hospital or Salem Hospital. Both of these facilities also provide free care to low income people without insurance as well as care to people with insurance and people with MassHealth. Click here to learn more about how the free care program works and how you can get care without paying for it if you are low income and don't have insurance.
For individuals with insurance, you may also want to contact the Swampscott Treatment and Trauma Center, another walk-in type health facility just over the Lynn line in Swampscott, or the Medical Treatment Center of Saugus, both of which provide walk-in care.
Caution: if you are a member of a managed care plan like Harvard Pilgrim or HMO Blue you should, if possible, contact your plan for authorization to be treated at one of these facilities, but don't delay care in an emergency if it is impossible to do so.
